Which cam tags are most common? A census of the live network

Updated September 23, 2026

Tag pages are how most people navigate a cam site, and nobody publishes how many rooms are actually behind each tag. Search results will tell you which tags are searched for. This page measures the other side of it: what broadcasters are actually tagging themselves as, hour by hour, counted rather than estimated.

It is the same instrument as our hourly census of rooms on air, pointed at a different question.

How this was measured

We ask Chaturbate's public index how many rooms match one tag, once an hour, for every tag we list. The index returns an exact count for a query rather than a sample, so each reading is the network's own figure at that moment, not an estimate from a page of results.

Readings are grouped into hourly buckets and each published figure is the sample-weighted mean across the period.

Read these as supply, not demand. A tag with many rooms behind it is a tag you will find plenty of choice in; it says nothing about how many people are searching for it, and the two are frequently not the same.

One measured facet is left out of the ranking above. hd is not a tag but a video-quality filter, and an average of 5,877 rooms carry it — 77.8% of the network, which is more than any tag and is a statement about cameras rather than about categories.

Where the network broadcasts from

The same method answers a question the hourly census raises but cannot settle on its own. Room counts swing by roughly a third across the day, and the reason is geographic rather than behavioural: the regions do not clock on and off together.

Average rooms on air by region, 23 September 2026 to 16 October 2026.

North America6348.4%1,009

The five regions together account for every room on air, which is why the shares above sum to the whole network and why they are a fair denominator for the tag figures.

What this does and does not measure

Tags are self-declared. A broadcaster chooses their own, and there is no review of whether a tag fits. These are counts of what rooms call themselves.

A room carries several tags at once. The figures do not partition the network the way the regions do — they overlap, and they sum to far more than the number of rooms on air. A share here means "this proportion of rooms carry this tag", never "this proportion of rooms are only this".

We measure the tags we list, not every tag in existence. The network carries a long tail of rare and one-off tags that no directory lists and that would be noise at this scale. What is measured here is the set this site publishes pages for.

This covers one network. These figures describe Chaturbate specifically and should not be read as representative of live cam sites in general.

Supply is not earnings. If you broadcast, the commonest tag is also the most crowded one. Which tag finds you an audience is a different question from which tag has the most rooms in it, and this page cannot answer the first.

Using these figures

The figures on this page are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0). You may quote, reproduce or reuse them, commercially too, as long as you credit JustTheCams and link to this page. To cite one tag rather than the whole table, click it and copy the address from your browser.

The period and the number of readings behind every figure are stated above, and they grow as the census runs, so a quotation is worth dating.

Common questions

What is the most common tag on Chaturbate?

The ranked table above is generated from our own hourly census and changes as the network does. It lists every tag we measure, with the average number of rooms carrying it and that tag's share of all rooms on air over the same hours.

Does a popular tag mean more viewers?

No. These are supply figures: they count rooms that carry a tag, not people watching. A crowded tag means more choice for a viewer and more competition for a broadcaster.

Why do the tag shares add up to more than 100%?

Because a room can carry many tags at once. Tags overlap, so the shares are each measured against all rooms on air rather than against one another. The regional shares are different — every room sits in exactly one region, so those do sum to the network.

Which region has the most cam rooms?

The regional table above answers it from the same readings, and the answer is stable across the period even though the sizes move. It also explains most of the daily swing in how many rooms are on air across the day, which our hourly census measures separately.

Why is hd not in the tag ranking?

Because it is not a tag. It is a video-quality filter, matching most of the network, and ranking it alongside categories would tell you about cameras rather than about what broadcasters call themselves. It is reported separately above.

How often is this updated?

Hourly. Every figure is read from the census when the page is requested, so the numbers and the period they cover are always current rather than written into the text.

Does JustTheCams see who watches what?

No. This is counted entirely from the network's public index of live rooms — how many rooms match a query at a given moment. It involves no visitor data of any kind, ours or anyone else's.
